Frequently asked questions about platen printing
The K3 platen printing machine is a high-precision screen printer for textiles and industrial flat materials, belonging to the platen-type automatic screen printing family. Servo drives give a stable horizontal or vertical squeegee stroke, suitable for multi-colour registration and thick-film silicone work. Compared with manual platen printing it offers higher repeat accuracy, stable multi-pass printing on one screen and precise substrate holding, and is widely used for apparel, footwear, heat-transfer labels, webbing and industrial materials.
A complete line usually includes the platen printing machine (the core unit), a walking dryer, an automatic pallet transfer platform, a fully automatic stretching machine, an emulsion coating machine, and exposure and development equipment. Together they cover everything from stretching and prepress to screen printing and curing, helping factories automate and improve stability and batch consistency.
It suits printing houses moving from manual screen printing to automation, companies needing reliable thick-film silicone and multi-layer builds, manufacturers with strict multi-colour registration requirements, and factories taking branded orders where batch consistency is critical. It is especially strong in high-value processes such as silicone toothbrush grips, foam printing, multi-colour registration and flocking.
Tension is even and stable, parameters can be repeated, screen life is longer, less skilled labour is needed, and registration accuracy and printing stability both improve. On a high-precision platen line, stable screen tension is the foundation of print quality.
The platen machine is better for thick-film silicone, multi-pass builds on one screen, small batches with many processes and substrates that need firm holding; the carousel suits high-volume flat apparel printing. For high relief and fine thick-film work, the platen machine offers greater stability and process compatibility.
Thick-film silicone needs several passes on the same screen with exact registration. Manual printing tends to drift out of register, vary in layer thickness and differ between batches. The platen machine uses precise positioning and repeat accuracy to stack passes reliably, giving clean edges and strong relief.
